Submit a date carving request onlineOur mission at Hutton Monument Company is to practice empathy, kindness, and respect to our past, present, and future customers. We have carried out this mission statement since we began back in 1947, and we are committed to continue with our devotion to our customers as well as their loved ones.
Our company is not a major corporation, nor is our company part of a chain of other monument companies. During any process or transaction with us, you associate directly with the owner which helps build trust and a positive relationship with Hutton Monument Company.
We are a monument company, so we know a thing or two when it comes to quality monument crafting. Our monuments are composed of and built from granite and can then be polished to provide a smooth shiny surface while also increasing its durability against Mother Nature. And when it comes time to place the stone, we travel beyond the boundaries of Montgomery County, locating cemeteries in the most remote and secluded locations as well as all of the larger city cemeteries.
To ensure we build the appropriate monument to fit our customers' needs, we offer a great variety of styling and design options to choose from including different stone shapes, colors, and finishes. Check out the Monument Guide link below to gain a better understanding of what is possible in the design phase.
While we cannot give the whole game away, we can say that we have access to state-of-the-art equipment that truly sets us apart. From harvesting the finest granite samples down to precise lettering and imaging, we make the effort to produce a stone that will stand the tests of time and encompass the beauty of where it sits.
Need to add a final date to an existing monument? No problem! We will professionally, correctly, accurately, and quickly add the dates for your loved one. We can match any font, style, and lettering sizes on the monument, and we can do it whether it be granite, marble, black, grey, or anything else. Best of all, the entire process can be completed online so no appointment is necessary!
Often times, military and civic monuments are incomplete at the time of installation. Unfortunately, soldiers are sadly lost after the memorial has been dedicated. The good news is we can add names to existing monuments, and we will offer simple and affordable solutions to add information to an existing memorial with quick turn-around times.
We can carve personalized text into a variety of different items including bricks, doorstops, garden stones, or mailboxes to name a few. At Hutton Monument Company, your information can be set in stone — permanently. Reach out to us to tell us more about what you want to have carved, and we will accomodate you as best we can.
"Thank you so much for taking care of this, the monument and footstone look great! Thank you for the pictures, too. Great to be able to see it, since I live far away and can't make it home."
"Thank you so much. It is so thoughtful of you. Daddy's stone is now complete."
"...very professional and competitively priced. From meeting my Dad and I at various locations for our convenience, to detailed blueprints, my experience was delightful during a very difficult time."
"I just wanted to thank you for being so patient and understanding after the loss of my mother. The stone looks absolutely beautiful."
When a married couple, or sometimes a parent / child purchase a double monument, usually only one of the individuals who's name is engraved on the tombstone is deceased. Later, when the second individual passes away, the date of death must be carved on the monument. This is an area where we can definitely offer our services.
We currently serve Montgomery county as well as these surrounding counties: Stewart, Houston, Dickson, Cheatam, Robertson, Todd (KY), Christian (KY), and any other county within reason and upon request.
Monuments take all shapes and forms, so we can definitely design a suitable memorial even for those who utilize cremation. From traditional-looking monuments, to boulders, to stones, that would look nearly natural in your familie's private memory garden.
Absolutely! Our services extend to any beloved friends and family — pets included.
In the past, cemetery memorials were primarily made from marble or limestone. Both stones were desirable because they are relatively soft and easy to work with. The relatively soft stones do not hold up well to rain, falling trees, vandals, and other tests of time. The good news is that most damage can be repaired. Give us a call to discuss your project. We can clean and restore your existing memorial or design a replacement suitable to your family.
Currently, there is no method to erase carved text from stone. Lettering can sometimes be filled and re-carved, but a "shadow" of the original carving will almost always exist.
We accept cash, check, and credit card. Date carvings are payable in advance, and an email will be sent to you with a payment link if paying by card for online orders. Monuments and marker terms require a 50% deposit when the order is placed, and the remaining balance is due upon completion. Design and/or drawing fees are also payable in advance. And of course, payments can be made in person at our office location.
Yes, definitely! Feel free to email us, or connect with us on our social media platforms: Facebook or Instagram.

My name is Joshua Johnson, and I have been working with monuments and memorials since 1994. Under the mentorship of Bill and Barbara Hutton, I began to learn various aspects of monument creation and installation while studying Agriculture at Austin Peay State University. I continued to work part-time at the monument company while exploring career opportunities in manufacturing, I.T., and retail management - eventually realizing that memorialization is my true passion. I have traveled to several states to study memorial design and creation, learning from the best teachers in the industry. The most important thing I've learned is that everyone deserves personalized custom memorialization.
